I am watching you

God is watching you

Why Your Daily Tasks Matter to God

Have you ever thought about being watched in every single thing you do? Or that every single task you do has a supreme meaning? Is anyone watching and giving it any relevance?
Well, this could be interesting and is often overlooked by our “autopilot” system to live life.
From our own perspective, we have a plan for the day. We wake up willing to accomplish goals such as preparing breakfast, doing the dishes, tidying up a cupboard, ironing, cooking, vacuuming, hanging clothes on the line, looking after our children, preparing food for them and doing the same tasks over and over again.

Most of the time, such things receive a small value and may even be disregarded, just because they need to be done and are part of life, so we do them automatically.
Although we have different routines, highly organised or merely ordinary, God is always watching, He cares about what we are doing, and He does put meaning in it.

God is watching you - Bible reading

A Biblical Perspective on Work as Worship

In the Bible, we can learn the power of this in Colossians 3:23-24:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” The Lord is watching over us all the time!

Jesus, at the time He walked on this Earth, was often showing a servant heart and teaching us to do the same. One example is when He washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17) before the last supper, early hours before His death on the cross, where He served as a sacrifice to redeem us from our sins (1 Peter 2:24).

With that, Jesus expressed that the simple services or a great action have purpose when you do them intentionally, which is to praise Him with an obedient heart and thankful mindset.

My Journey to a Daily Service with Joy

Sometimes, I used to catch myself doing the household tasks as something that I needed to finish quickly, so I could do some important and profitable job just after.

However, God gave me His perspective about it. He showed me in a dream how pleased He was when I was doing the simple housekeeping job, and I was dedicating it to Him. He suddenly filled my heart with an unexplainable joy, and I woke up in the middle of the night laughing and praising Him. Then, I really put it in my daily life, that no matter the job you need to do, offer it to the Lord and He will fill your life with so much joy and contentment that you’ll become grateful, creative and fruitful.

Even so, you need to go out to work or have a variety of sources of income, plus the household tasks. Colossians 3:23-24 is still applicable in your life since the eyes of the Lord are every time and everywhere watching you and being delighted in your deeds as you worship Him and dedicate everything to Him. He will reward you with unexplainable peace and overflowing satisfaction.
